Metallics are a huge trend this Spring and I’m loving it! Last week while in LA and on my way to dinner I stumbled upon this amazing skull mural and felt like it was meant to be. This may be my favorite post to date, as you can tell by the gazillion of photos below. You have no idea how hard it was to chose this few...I literally could have posted at least another two dozen.

As I’ve mentioned in the past I have a huge love for Alexander McQueen and skulls. This mural was the perfect back drop for my look. I wore this skirt from Zara, that I bought quite a bit ago because I loved that it was leather and gold. It was perfect but a bit too long, so I had it altered, as I do most of my wardrobe to fit my body.

I love dressing tough but would never let go of my feminine side! Here is exactly how I give my girly-ness a little edge!

Spring is in the air and I can't help but jump for joy at the thought of sunshine, dining al fresco and finally riding my iron horse! Ok, ok, so maybe these photos weren't taken in Chicago, actually they were taken in LA which always feels like Spring and Summer anyway. That's exactly why I jetted off to LA LA land for a quick work and play trip. I like to think however that I did bring back the warmth to Chicity! As you know, I love wearing all white, just like I did HERE. I think it makes it feel more like Spring even without the beautiful weather we've been having! I'm crossing my fingers that I can keep wearing Spring whites here in Chicago and not have to jet back off to LA or Miami to get my Spring fix in!

Who says you have to be a prima ballerina to master the tulle skirt? The other day I felt like a "Fairy" frolicking in the forest on a gorgeous spring day! I was definitely channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw and playing some serious dress up. I wanted to wear a very whimsical outfit for an event I had to attend and I thought this fit the bill pretty perfectly! I felt so girly and fun! What I love about dressing up is that you can transform into different persona's through your outfits... so very Gemini of me!

So, here’s how to incorporate the chic piece into your own wardrobe.

The other week I went into one of my favorite fashion fortresses in Chicago, Ikram. I had my eye on a stunning two piece Sacai jacket for some time and finally bit the bullet.  It's a fur sleeve jacket and leather vest put together to create the perfect statement piece. You can wear it together or as separates. I was originally bummed when I heard it was going to be cold again this week, but not after I bought this jacket! I was so excited to wear it.

I dressed really comfy to run around Michigan Avenue for meetings all day. My outfit was the perfect mix of high-low, which you all know I love to do! Pairing a Chanel bag with a BaubleBar necklace that I added the lock from my Louis Vuitton Keepall 50 was the perfect mix for me! Now let's hope this weather stops already! Although, I guess I don't mind as long as I get to wear my new favorite piece... and we all know, April showers bring May flowers... right!?

This past weekend, my girls and I had a lovely afternoon at Tiffin in the new, chic Langham Hotel. We celebrated a close friends birthday, (you may remember my friend Anastacia from my previous post), with a real tea time. Towers of scones, pastries, mini sandwiches and tons of delicious tea. It was a long process with many different elements but it was so much fun.

We started with an amuse-bouche, French for “mouth amuser”, which it definitely was! It was a shot glass of mint iced tea with little beads the consistency of caviar at the bottom, that were filled with jasmine sugar juice! They were amazing and a great way to cleanse your palette before all the courses that followed.

Dressing for tea time gave me the perfect reason to unleash my inner "Prima Ballerina" and wear all pastel pink! All the girls dressed very lady like, poofy skirts, quilted Chanel bags, and buns were a definite must! It was really a beautiful afternoon and I have to say my girlfriends are so gorgeous inside and out!!!

Or is it Berkun working? Either way....
One thing I often find women contemplating is how to dress for work. Being a stylist, dressing for work is fun but can often be challenging. You always have to be stylish and wow your client while staying comfortable enough to run around, carry boxes, unpack, repack, steam clothes, dress and undress models and so much more, all while staying fabulous. After years of practice, I like to think I’ve got it down. One thing that dresses up any outfit a bit, is a trusty pair of heels. I almost always wear heels on set and my feet get uncomfortable being on hard studio floors all day even in the most comfortable pair. So, I make sure I have a backup in my bag. Changing shoes, even into another pair of heels makes a day in heels much easier! I also love a great tee. I recently discovered these Cotton Candy Couture t-shirts designed by local designer and fellow blogger, Jenna Zielbauer. They’re sold at Von Z and I can’t get enough! They’re so fun and so soft! They add a bit of humor to any outfit! Throw on a blazer, your favorite pair of jeans or trousers and some great jewelry and your ready for the long, but always fun day on set!

When I brought on my assistant, Ali to #TeamBerkun aka my incredible team of assistants. I had no idea that she was the co-owner and designer of a custom jewelry business! I'm crazy about Just The 2 Of Us Jewelry, hand forged in Madison, Wisconsin by the mother-daughter design team.

When Ali was nine, her mom Debbie, refused to buy her a pair of expensive earrings. Now, Ali says this was one of the best decisions she has made. Ali started teaching herself how to make jewelry because she needed to own those "earrings". So, she made them herself. She would make a pair of earrings every morning before school to match her outfit and started to teach her mom. They experimented in new techniques, making tons of jewelry for themselves and friends, but only selling it for fundraisers. After a few years of being told they needed to turn their hobby into a business, Just The 2 Of Us Jewelry was born. That was almost ten years ago.

Now, they’re designing more than ever. Debbie is a full time jewelry designer practicing law on the side and Ali is graduating college this May with a degree in photography. Expect to see a great deal more of them once Ali is out of school!

Their custom metal work and eclectic pieces collected from all over the world is sold in select stores, straight from designer to customer and is mostly one of a kind! I'm obsessed! Interested?
